The kidneys are 2 bean-shaped organs that lie against the spine in the lower back. As blood flows through the kidneys, they remove waste and store it in the bladder as urine. The bladder is the balloon-like organ located in the pelvis, which is between your abdomen and thighs. The urethra is the tube that carries urine from the bladder and out of the body.
